The Chronicles of Week One: From California to Thailand

Week one in Hua Hin, Thailand (and other areas, respectively) has been a whirlwind to say the least.  Sitting down and blogging this experience is crucial for future reflection but forcing myself to sit, focus, and create this page has been a real battle… (the struggle is REAL)… ADHD problems.  After arriving in Bangkok and shuttling from the capital city into Hua Hin (a resort town)  I immediately noticed the ornate gold structures everywhere one the highway with pictures of the King and Queen; one cannot travel farther than .5 km without seeing another gigantic statuesque figure, simply put.  The loyalty of the Thai people towards their King and Queen is beneficial for them (as a people) due to the fact that it is illegal to speak negatively about Royalty…

In summary – only because I fear in boring the reader – as I am additionally boring myself as I type – it’s been a whirlwind/liberating adventure.  The past week I’ve met people from all over the world, discovered an entirely new transportation system (motor bike taxis (exhilarating but scary as hell – no one wears helmets!!!) , a highway system without “rules” or sidewalks), explored Buddhist temples, ancient palaces (located in forests with monkeys), put my feet in a fish tank where the fish fed on my skin, and dabbled in a bit of (classy) debauchery in downtown Hua Hin which is better left as a drunken memory and not completely spilled on on the world wide web!

I start University tomorrow, wish me luck!
